Cartema is where your organisation's maps live. Your organisation has a workspace; in it are apps — each one a map with its layers, tools and settings, made for a purpose. You open an app, and work on the map.
Signing in
Go to cartema.mdvia.am, or to your organisation's own sign-in link or address, and sign in with the email address and password your organisation gave you.
- Passwords have at least 10 characters. Change yours in Account → Change password; your other devices are signed out when you do.
- Forgotten your password? Cartema does not send reset emails. Ask your workspace administrator or Cartema support, who can set a new one for you.
- A session lasts 14 days after your last visit. Sign out at the top right ends it on this device.
If you see No workspace yet, your account is not a member of any workspace: ask your organisation's administrator to add you.
Your apps
After signing in you see Apps: every app of your workspace that you may open.
- Apps can be filed in folders — open a folder like a directory, and use the path at the top (All apps › …) to go back up.
- With seven or more apps there is a Find an app box: it searches every folder at once and shows where each app is filed.
- Each card shows a picture of the app's area — its newest orthophoto, or satellite imagery — with what imagery the app holds, the folder it is filed in, what it contains (layers, plans, a 3D model, photos), who changed it last and when, and your role in it (Editor or Viewer).
- New data marks an app that someone else has changed since you last opened it (or, if you have never opened it, in the last two weeks). It goes away when you open the app.
- The two buttons beside the title (beside the search box on a phone) switch between cards and a compact list. Your choice is remembered on this device.
- An app marked Public can be opened by anyone with its link, without signing in. Other apps are for the workspace's members.
Click an app to open its map. The arrow or the Cartema mark at the top of the map's left rail brings you back to the folder the app is in.
More than one workspace
If you belong to several workspaces — for example two organisations that both use Cartema — a Workspace list at the top left lets you switch between them with Switch workspace. Cartema remembers the last one you used.
Language and appearance
- EN · PT · HE at the top switches the interface between English, Portuguese and Hebrew (Hebrew reads right to left). Your choice is remembered on your account.
- The appearance button next to it cycles between following your system, light, and dark.
Set up for your region
Cartema is used in many countries. Coordinate systems, units, languages, print standards, title blocks and map symbols can be configured for your region and your organisation's own practice. Ask Cartema support through Contact us.
What your role lets you do
Your organisation gives each person a role in the workspace:
| Viewer | Editor | Administrator / Owner | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Open the workspace's apps and use the map tools | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Save views and drawings, share drawings, print | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Change data from the map (where the app allows editing) | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Studio: build apps, import data, styles, print layouts | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Add people, change roles, see usage | ✓ |
Only an owner makes someone an owner, or changes or removes an owner. A workspace always keeps at least one owner.
Cartema support staff who work in your workspace at your request appear in its history as MDVIA.
