Map sheets as PDF or PNG at a true scale, with a frame on the map for the printed area, legend, scale bar, north arrow and grid.

Print composes a map sheet from what is on the map: the layers that are on, the basemap, and — if you want — your drawings. The sheet has a legend, a scale bar and a north arrow, and is made at a true scale, so a distance measured on paper with a ruler matches the scale printed on it.
- Open Print in the rail.
- Give the sheet a Title (the app's name to begin with).
- Under Standard, choose the Format: A4, A3 or A2, landscape or portrait, or a sheet to a national mapping standard set up for your workspace (with its frame, grid and title block). Under Advanced, choose one of your organisation's own layouts, and fill in the Texts on the sheet it asks for — a client's name, a drawing number — which start from the layout's own words.
- Choose the Scale: the current one, rounded to a standard scale, or a fixed one from 1:500 to 1:5 000 000.
- Check the frame on the map: it shows the area the sheet will hold, in the proportions of the format at the chosen scale, with the rest of the map dimmed. At the current scale the frame follows the map and the sheet is centred on the view. At a fixed scale the frame stays where it is on the ground while you zoom and pan; drag it to choose what is printed, and Centre on view puts it back in the middle of the map.
- Choose the File (PDF or PNG) and the Resolution (300 dpi for printing, 150 dpi for the screen).
- Tick Coordinate grid to draw a grid in the coordinate system shown at the bottom of the map, untick Legend to print the sheet without its legend, and tick Include drawings to print your drawings too.
- On the A4, A3 and A2 sheets the map then takes the legend's column: it is wider, and the north arrow, the scale bar and the scale and date move to a row under it. The frame on the map grows with it, so it still shows exactly what is printed, at the same scale.
- A sheet to a mapping standard, and a layout designed in Studio, keep every element where it was placed; only the legend is left out, and its space stays empty.
- Compose sheet. After a few seconds, Download gives you the file, named after the title (in any language; characters that file names do not allow are left out).
Your own layers under My layers (a CAD drawing included, with its text) are printed when they are on in the map, with their names in the legend; they are printed only on your sheets, and a sheet that carries them can be opened only by you.
When your organisation has set its logo or name in Studio → Branding, its sheets carry that logo in place of Cartema's, and the foot of the sheet reads "
Every PDF is a GeoPDF: opened in a GIS program (QGIS, ArcGIS), it falls in its place on the ground.
Printing needs you to be signed in, also in a public app.
A plan to be kept and printed again, with its title block filled in and its labels moved by hand, is a plan sheet.
Your organisation's own layouts — its logo, pictures, texts to fill in, a different arrangement — are designed in Studio → Print layouts: see Styles and print layouts.
